Copper Thief

With a rise in the price of copper there was a disturbing incident at Gellong this week

One of these men is a criminal? Do you know who?

Theft at Geelong

With a renewed strength in the Chinese economy, the price of copper has once again started to rise. Unfortunately this has once again lead to an increase in the number of copper related thefts. It appears no form of copper is safe, with would-be thieves risking their lives to steal live electrical cables from buildings and the railway network.
Unfortunately this copper stealing racket has also infiltrated other sectors of our society, including sport. At a recent Athletics Victoria Cross Country race meeting in Geelong, south west Victoria, a brazen and callous thief made off with the under 20’s third place bronze medal. With copper being the main alloy of bronze, Victorian Police fear this theft is linked to other robberies and could represent a larger crime syndicate.
The incident occurred around 2:30 pm on the 1st August 2009, when the yet to be identified assailant took off quickly in the combined U/20’s and U/16’s 6km race. He worked well up the hilly and uneven course and was able to finish strongly and snatch 6th  position.
Once Witness, Victor Shelamoff, who managed to pursue, and shadow the offender for most of the race, described the event as scary. “ He just took off fast, and obviously decide to the stick with the lead pack”.
The Crime was reported by a number of interstate and invitation runners, who claim to have had their bronze medals stolen.
Some Reports describe the assailant as tall, handsome and very charismatic, but police believe these descriptions have been provided by the wanted man himself. Other accounts draw a picture of a man commonly seen wearing singlets with the number 150 on them, and easily amused by puns The general public are warned about approaching the suspect, as his prone to running, and may lead them on a fast paced 6km dash.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the suspected copper thief may be the same offender accused of pilfering personal best and year level records at the annual St Bernard’s College Dash.
Police have managed to bring in a number of suspects they believe may be involved, and have assemble an identity parade. They are desperately seeking identification of the suspect. The general public are urged to view the photo parade above and report the name of any one they believe may have been involved

With the previous two choice of venue, A.V appears to think we may be horses. With this in mind what horse do you think you will best represent at Flemington on Sunday?
