The Keilor St Bernard’s under 14 men’s team proved runners-up on a brisk but sunny day on the hills of St Anne’s winery at Merriang on Saturday May 5.
Round two of XCR saw a good number of KSB teams tackle the new course which most agreed was faster than the predecessors at Wandin and Lardner Park.
The hard undulating course had no real impediments, fences or creeks, but the AV announcer was moved to request any runner who found a flat section to report it to the AV tent, as they were sure it was out there somewhere.
Dylan led the way in under 14s, but was initially not included in the official results, the team placing third. After a further examination of registration details, Dylan was cleared and the team claimed 2nd position.
KSB winter runners venture to Cruden Farm for round three, where some more hills and a particularly hazardous creek crossing await.
